The staff at Cliff Park High were delighted to see the high standards achieved by our students, when we received the examination results in August.
At GCSE, 64% of the entire year group achieved five or more A* to C grades, which is above the national average, and 46% achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and Maths - a school record! 97.9% of all entries were successful and 13.9% of entries achieved an A or A*. 63.4% of entries achieved grade C or above and 94% of all the students achieved 5 or more GCSE passes. These figures make it clear that all students have been enabled to fulfil their potential at Cliff Park High School.
Much publicity recently centred on schools manipulating their entry policy as well as course choices, in order to achieve a better position in the league tables, most notably with regard to the option of studying a language. Students at our school are encouraged to follow a language course because we believe this is an essential ingredient of any students future profile and will enable them to be able to access opportunities that they would not be able to without this experience, as well as giving them a skill which they will undoubtly find useful in later life. Our curriculum, which continues to develop, is broad and balanced rather than one based around courses where students will achieve success.
The results achieved deserve celebration because they are resoundingly impressive. What the statistics do not show, however is the progress made from Key Stage 2 and 3 to GCSE. Compared with other local high schools, the progress made at Cliff Park is of a very high order and places us in the top 25% of similar schools. To maintain this we are committed to working closely with you and your students as well as building upon the existing good relationships we already enjoy with all of the feeder schools in the local cluster.
